Privacy Policy — ErgissVAG F16 Edition
Effective date: 2026-06-05 (v2 — explicit optional off-device telemetry disclosure)
App: ErgissVAG F16 Edition
Developer: Ergiss (gdiaconu@dgpfa.eu)
Short version: This app never sends any data to servers controlled by the developer.
All sensor data stays on your device, unless you explicitly enable the optional telemetry
features — in which case data is transmitted only to a server that you configure and own.
1. Data transmitted off your device (optional, OFF by default)
If — and only if — you enable Cloud Logging (BYOS) or MQTT publishing in Settings, the app
transmits the following data off your device, exclusively to the endpoint/broker you configure:
- Location (precise and approximate GPS position, speed, heading, altitude)
- Vehicle data (OBD-II/CAN readings: RPM, temperatures, battery voltage, tire pressures, driving events)
- Device or other IDs (Android device ID, used to distinguish your devices on your server)
- Diagnostics (app event/connection logs, optional screenshots you trigger)
Transmission is encrypted in transit (HTTPS; MQTT over TLS on the default port 8883).
The developer does not receive, see, proxy, or store any of this data — you are the sole
data controller of your own server. Both features are disabled by default and the app
is fully functional without them. To delete transmitted data, see
Data Deletion.
1b. Data collected by the developer: NONE
ErgissVAG F16 Edition does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on servers controlled by the developer.
2. Data the app processes locally on your device
- GPS location: used for navigation display, GPS-derived attitude (when no accelerometer is available), and METAR weather lookups. Never transmitted to us.
- Vehicle data (OBD-II, CAN bus, TPMS): read from your car via ELM327 / HU CAN gateway / USB TPMS receiver. Displayed on screen, never transmitted to us.
- Device sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope): used for attitude indicator. Never transmitted.
- Camera (optional): live preview only, not recorded, not transmitted.
3. Third-party services we contact directly from your device
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — for license validation. Standard SDK; subject to Google's privacy policy.
- NOAA Aviation Weather (api.weather.gov) — for METAR/TAF requests, sends approximate coordinates.
- Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — fallback weather provider, sends approximate coordinates.
These services are contacted directly from your device. We have no visibility into these requests.
4. Cloud Logging (Bring Your Own Server) — OPTIONAL, OFF BY DEFAULT
You can optionally configure an HTTPS endpoint of your own (e.g., Home Assistant, custom server) in Settings → Cloud Logging. When enabled, the app POSTs telemetry JSON directly to your endpoint at intervals (every 5 seconds during active driving).
- You control where data goes — we do not see, proxy, or store it.
- You are the data controller for any data sent to your endpoint.
- The app refuses plain HTTP — HTTPS only.
5. Crash reports
This app does not include any third-party crash reporting or analytics SDK (no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no analytics).
6. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
| ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION | GPS for navigation and METAR lookup. Stays on device. |
| BLUETOOTH_CONNECT/SCAN | Connect to OBD ELM327 over Bluetooth. |
| CAMERA | Optional live preview behind the dashboard. Not recorded. |
